Play Abyss Online
Guide a ball through 4 maze levels, avoiding enemies, traps, and shifting blocks. Use switches to unlock paths. Lose lives by falling off. Released in 1987 for Amiga.

Game Overview
Abyss is one of those Amiga games that looks simple at first—you're just a little ball rolling through maze-like levels—but it gets tricky fast. The parallax scrolling gives it this weirdly hypnotic depth, and before long, you're dodging enemy balls, timing jumps over trapdoors, and figuring out how to use blocks that push you around like a pinball.
The real challenge comes from the level design. Some blocks slow you down, others act like timed doors, and if you fall off the edge, there goes one of your 10 lives. I remember getting stuck on this one level where killer drones kept knocking me into pits until I realized I had to hit a switch first to open a hidden path. It’s the kind of game where you’ll retry the same section a dozen times, but when you finally nail it, it feels amazing.
Honestly, the physics take some getting used to—your ball has this floaty momentum that can either save you or send you flying into danger. But once it clicks, Abyss becomes weirdly addictive. Just don’t be surprised if you mutter "one more try" at 2 AM.
