Game Overview

I first played Ace of Aces back in the late 80s, after it came out in 1986 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from Artech Digital Entertainment. It was one of those early flight sims that didn't try to be hyper realistic, but it had a certain charm that made it stand out on a system where most games were still pretty basic.

You pilot a British de Havilland Mosquito fighter-bomber through a series of missions set in World War II. Your main goal is to complete objectives like taking out V-1 rockets, bombing U-boats, and engaging in dogfights with enemy planes. The game uses a first person perspective with simple wireframe graphics, and you have to manage your speed, altitude, and weapons while avoiding flak and enemy fire. It's not an easy game; the controls take some getting used to, and the missions require precise timing and a fair bit of trial and error. Flying through those chaotic skies, even with the basic visuals, gives you a real sense of tension and accomplishment when you finally complete an objective.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
