Game Overview
Action Fighter is one of those Sega Master System games that somehow crams way more fun into its tiny cartridge than it has any right to. You start off speeding down roads in what looks like a normal car—until you realize you can transform into a helicopter or jet mid-level, which changes everything. The first time I accidentally switched forms while dodging bullets, I nearly crashed into a building, but in the best way possible.
It's got that perfect arcade feel where everything moves just a little too fast, and you're constantly making split-second decisions between weaving through traffic or flipping to helicopter mode to take out enemies from above. The music has that classic Sega urgency to it—you know, the kind that makes you sit up straighter without realizing it. Some of the later stages get absolutely brutal, but in that satisfying "one more try" kind of way.
If you ever played Spy Hunter and wished it had more explosions and vehicle morphing, this is basically your dream game from 1986.
