Action Man on Game Boy Color is basically the video game version of those action figures you probably had as a kid—except now you're the one jumping off helicopters and disarming bombs. The first mission throws you straight into some secret base, and within minutes you're sneaking past guards, punching bad guys, and occasionally blowing stuff up (in that satisfying, pixelated GBC way).

The controls take a second to get used to—you'll probably accidentally throw a grenade when you meant to crouch at least once—but once it clicks, the movement feels surprisingly smooth for an old handheld game. The missions are short enough that you can squeeze one in between bus stops, but some of the later levels will actually make you sweat a little.

Honestly, half the fun is how unapologetically '90s it all feels. The music sounds like someone remixed a GI Joe cartoon theme, and the villain dialogue is gloriously cheesy. If you've got nostalgia for this era or just want a solid portable action game, this one holds up way better than it has any right to. Just don't expect a deep story—you're here to kick doors and look cool doing it.
