Game Overview
Advance Guardian Heroes is that rare GBA sequel that actually lives up to its Saturn predecessor. It's got that same chaotic beat 'em up energy, but somehow crammed onto a tiny screen without losing what made the original great. You pick from a handful of weirdos (my go-to was the samurai dude) and just wreck waves of enemies with ridiculous combos and screen-filling special moves.
The controls feel surprisingly deep for a handheld fighter—you're juggling enemies in midair one second, then canceling into super moves the next. And yeah, the sprites are tiny, but they're packed with personality. Just don't expect it to be easy—some of those later stages will wreck you if you button mash.
If you missed the Saturn version, this is still a solid way to experience the madness.
