I picked up Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, a time when licensed kids' games were everywhere. It was published by NewKidCo, and like many titles from that era, it tried to capture the spirit of the source material with simple, colorful graphics and straightforward gameplay. You guide Elmo through a series of themed levels, each one a small part of Grouchland's grimy, whimsical world.
You control Elmo directly, moving him left and right, jumping across gaps, and interacting with objects like trash cans and switches.
