Play Alex Kidd in Shinobi World Online
Control Alex Kidd, swing your sword, toss shurikens, and navigate through jungles and caves to rescue your brother in this 1990 platformer.
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World came out in 1990 for the Sega Master System, developed and published by Sega. It was a time when platformers dominated the console, and this one stood out by mashing up Sega's own mascot with the mechanics of their popular Shinobi series. It felt like a strange but interesting experiment, a side story that didn't take itself too seriously.
You control Alex Kidd, who has been given a ninja outfit and a short sword to swing at enemies across themed stages. Your goal is to rescue your captured brother by fighting through jungles, caves, and enemy fortresses one screen at a time. The signature mechanics include using a limited supply of shurikens for ranged attacks and finding power-ups in breakable blocks, like a temporary tornado spin that clears the screen. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can be unforgiving with instant death pits and aggressive enemy patterns. It feels like a quick, challenging brawl where every jump and attack has to be deliberate.
