I picked up Aliens: Infestation on the Nintendo DS back in 2011, a game developed by WayForward. It was a solid entry on the handheld, arriving late in the system's life when developers really knew how to push the hardware. It felt like a proper attempt to capture the atmosphere of the films without just being another licensed action game.
You control a squad of four colonial marines, exploring the derelict U.S.S. Sulaco and other infested locations screen by screen. The main objective is to find survivors and uncover what happened, all while managing your team. The signature mechanics are the permanent death of your marines if they get grabbed, the ability to weld doors shut to temporarily block enemies or create safe routes, and the constant use of a motion tracker that beeps faster as threats approach. The pacing is tense and deliberate, with a difficulty that punishes carelessness. It feels like a desperate fight for survival where every decision carries weight.
