I picked up The Amazing Spider-Man for the Nintendo DS back in 2007, developed by Vicarious Visions. It was one of those licensed games that came out around the time of the movie, but it stood on its own pretty well. The DS had a lot of these action platformers, and this one used both screens in a way that felt natural for swinging around the city.
You control Spider-Man, swinging through a side scrolling New York, beating up thugs and stopping crimes. The main goal is to uncover a conspiracy, which involves moving screen by screen, webbing up enemies, and using touch screen gestures for special moves. The pacing is brisk, with a moderate difficulty that spikes during some boss fights. It feels energetic and a little rough around the edges, but nailing a long swing chain or a stealth takedown makes it worthwhile.
