Game Overview

Armada is a 1999 MS-DOS strategy game published by Metro3D. It belongs to that era of PC gaming where complex simulations and turn-based naval warfare found a dedicated audience, offering a methodical experience focused on historical engagement rather than flashy presentation.

You command the Spanish Armada, directing your fleet of galleons across a simple map of the English Channel. Your primary objective is to safely escort troop transports to their landing zones while fending off attacks from the nimble English navy. The game proceeds in turns, with each move requiring careful consideration of wind direction, ship facing, and firing arcs. Combat is resolved through dice rolls influenced by range and positioning, making every encounter a tense calculation of risk. The pacing is deliberately slow, almost chess-like, and the difficulty stems from managing limited resources against a persistent enemy. It feels like conducting a fragile, high-stakes operation where a single misjudged turn can lead to disaster.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
