Play Army Men : Air Combat Online

You pilot tiny plastic choppers through backyard warzones, dodging bottle-cap AA guns and bombing tan army bases between the lawn chairs. That GBC d-pad makes dogfighting clumsy at first, but nailing a perfect strafe run on a toy train never gets old.

Game Overview

Army Men: Air Combat came out on Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by 3DO. It was part of that wave of late-era GBC games that tried to squeeze a little more action out of the hardware before the Advance arrived. You don't get much story, just the familiar green vs. tan plastic soldier conflict, but it fit right in with the other portable military titles of the time.

You control a helicopter gunship from an overhead view, flying through varied environments like kitchens, backyards, and deserts. Your main goal is to complete mission objectives, which usually involve destroying all enemy units or key structures. Signature mechanics include rescuing stranded green soldiers by hovering near them, collecting power-ups to upgrade your weapons, and managing limited ammunition for your machine gun and missiles. The pacing is methodical; you clear one area of enemies before moving to the next, and the difficulty can spike with swarms of tan troops or tight spaces. It feels satisfying to systematically dismantle the enemy's toy defenses from above.
