Play Astro Boy - The Video Game (US)(M5) Online

I picked up Astro Boy: The Video Game for the Nintendo DS back in 2009, developed by High Voltage Software. It was one of those licensed titles that came out around the time of the CG film, fitting right into the DS library's mix of action and platforming games. The hardware wasn't new by then, but it still felt like a solid attempt to bring the character's energy to a handheld.

You control Astro Boy through side-scrolling levels, flying and fighting through futuristic cities and industrial complexes. The main goal is to stop a rogue robot threat, which involves a lot of shooting with arm cannons, melee combos, and using his booster flight to navigate gaps or avoid hazards. Two key mechanics are switching between regular and "supercharged" modes for more powerful attacks, and using the touch screen for special moves or quick-time events during boss fights. The pacing is fairly brisk, though some sections can feel repetitive, and the difficulty has spikes, especially during enemy swarms or precise platforming moments. It feels like a straightforward, action-focused romp that makes decent use of the character's abilities.
