Game Overview

B.A.T. Disk1 came out on the Amiga in 1989, published by Ubi Soft. It was one of those ambitious sci-fi RPGs that tried to do a lot with the hardware at the time, blending adventure and role-playing elements in a cyberpunk universe. You played as an agent for the Bureau of Astral Troubleshooters, sent out to handle problems across different star systems.

You control your agent from an isometric perspective, moving screen by screen through cities, space stations, and other futuristic locations. The main goal is to complete missions by talking to characters, gathering clues, and using your equipment or cybernetic implants to overcome obstacles. Combat happens in real time, and you can upgrade your abilities and gear as you progress. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and some puzzles or navigation can be tricky, but figuring things out gives a real sense of accomplishment. It feels like being a detective and a soldier rolled into one, making your own way through a detailed world.
