Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance on the Game Boy Advance came out in 2004, developed by Magic Pockets. It was part of that wave of console-style action RPGs trying to find a home on handhelds, offering a chunkier experience than most GBA titles at the time. You control one of three characters, a human archer, a dwarven fighter, or an elven sorceress, and battle through dungeons, crypts, and icy caves. The goal is straightforward: survive the onslaught of monsters and uncover the threat behind the growing evil. Gameplay revolves around screen-by-screen exploration, real-time combat with basic and special attacks, and constant loot hunting for better gear. It moves at a brisk pace, though the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later areas. Playing it feels like having a condensed, slightly janky version of a couch co-op dungeon crawler always within reach.
