Game Overview

Ball Game came out for the Amiga in 1985, a straightforward arcade-style title that fit right in with the platform's early library of simple, action-focused games. It was developed and published by a small team, and it didn't try to be anything more than a solid, responsive paddle-and-ball experience. In an era when many games were still figuring out how to use the Amiga's capabilities, this one stuck to the basics and did them well.

You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right to bounce a single ball upward and break all the bricks in each level. The main objective is to clear every stage without letting the ball fall past your paddle. Key mechanics include catching power-ups that drop from broken bricks, such as paddle lengtheners or multiball, and playing in either single-player or a competitive two-player mode. The pacing starts relaxed but quickly demands sharper reflexes as the ball speeds up and obstacles become more complex. It feels satisfying to find a rhythm and keep the ball in play through tight rebounds and quick reactions.
