Game Overview

Dragon Ball Z: Final Bout on the Genesis is that weird, janky cousin of modern DBZ fighters—the one you can't help but love despite its flaws. The pixel art somehow makes Goku's hair look even more ridiculous than usual, and pulling off a Kamehameha feels like wrestling with the controller (in a weirdly satisfying way).

Super moves take forever to charge, the AI cheats shamelessly, and half the roster plays like they're underwater. But there's something magical about Vegeta's pixelated smirk right before he blasts you into next Tuesday. The intro alone—all screechy synth and dramatic pans across the Z fighters—is worth booting it up.

It's not a "good" fighter by any stretch, but it's pure 90s DBZ distilled into cartridge form. You'll either hate it or develop a strange affection for its clunky charm. Either way, it's a fascinating relic of when licensed games were allowed to be this gloriously rough around the edges.
