I picked up Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai for the PSP back in 2006, a Dimps-developed fighter published by Bandai Namco. It was one of those early portable titles that really showed what the system could do, especially if you were into anime games. The graphics were sharp for the time, and it captured the look of the show without feeling like a weak console port.

You control characters like Goku or Vegeta in one-on-one battles, with the main goal being to deplete your opponent's health bar. The combat relies on a mix of melee combos, energy blasts, and signature moves like the Kamehameha, which you charge and aim with the shoulder buttons. Matches are fast and often decided by well-timed dodges or landing a super attack. It feels responsive and chaotic in the best way, especially when you pull off a dramatic finisher.
