Dragon Ball Evolution came out on the PlayStation Portable in 2009, developed by Dimps and published by Namco Bandai Games. It was one of those PSP titles that tried to ride the wave of a movie tie-in, landing right in the middle of the handheld's lifespan when developers were still figuring out how to translate big action into a small format.
You control Goku as he moves through linear stages, beating up waves of enemies with basic combos and special moves like the Kamehameha. The main goal is to progress through each level, defeat bosses, and unlock new abilities. Signature mechanics include charging your ki meter to unleash super attacks and engaging in quick-time events during cinematic sequences. The pacing is rushed, and the difficulty feels uneven, often leaning on repetitive enemy encounters. It feels like a stripped-down, slightly clumsy attempt to capture the speed of Dragon Ball's fights.
