Play Dragon Ball Z (English) Online
Trading blows on the ground, then blasting into the air to fire off a huge ki attack feels wild—especially when you bait your opponent into range and land that perfect finishing move.

Dragon Ball Z: Buyū Retsuden on the Sega Genesis (known in France and Spain as Dragon Ball Z: L'Appel du Destin) is the kind of fighter that feels built for fans who grew up watching the show. It drops you straight into high-speed duels with a roster of familiar faces: Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Piccolo, Krillin, N 18, Recoome, Captain Ginyu, Freeza, and Cell. Most of them can go Super Saiyan if the story calls for it, and each has their own move set that matches their personality — Goku’s signature energy waves feel different from Vegeta’s relentless strikes.
The fighting system keeps things simple on paper: A punches, B kicks, and C switches you between ground and air combat. But the real hook is the split-screen trickery. When fighters pull apart, the view smoothly divides and scrolls so you can still see each other no matter how far you fly — a must for pulling off those massive ki blasts. It’s a clever bit of Mega Drive wizardry that still stands out today.
Visually, the game nails the look of the anime for its era — bold colors, large character sprites, and just enough detail to make each transformation feel satisfying. The soundtrack hits with those upbeat, slightly crunchy Mega Drive tunes, and the sound effects give weight to every punch, kick, and beam struggle. It’s not about flashy combos; it’s about recreating the feel of a Dragon Ball Z battle, right down to that last desperate energy wave when you’re low on health.
