Game Overview

So Dragon Power is this weird NES game that's actually a heavily edited version of an early Dragon Ball adventure. You play as Goku (and sometimes Nora, who's totally Bulma with a name change) hunting down those seven crystal balls—you know, the ones that summon the dragon. The overhead sections feel a bit like Zelda, but then suddenly you're in these awkward side-scrolling fights where you're mashing buttons to throw wind waves at enemies.

The localization is... something else. Half the characters have different names, and the plot makes about as much sense as a poorly translated anime bootleg. But there's something charming about finding power-ups that actually make Goku's attacks feel stronger—his wind wave goes from pathetic to screen-clearing if you find the right upgrades. Just watch out for that mysterious army always one step behind you.
