Mighty Morphin Power Rangers hit the Sega Genesis in 1994, published by Bandai. It was one of those mid-90s licensed games that tried to capture the show's energy on a cartridge. You got to pick from the original five Rangers, each with their own color and weapon, and the game played out across a series of side-scrolling levels.

You control a single Ranger, moving screen by screen to fight Putty Patties and larger monster bosses. The main goal is to stop Rita Repulsa's plans by clearing each stage. Signature mechanics include switching between your Ranger's standard fighting and a special weapon mode, like the Power Axe or Power Bow. After defeating a monster in its normal size, you then pilot the Megazord for a first-person combat sequence to take it down when it grows. The pacing is fast, but some enemy patterns feel cheap, making certain sections frustrating. It feels exactly like controlling an episode of the TV show, for better and for worse.
