I picked up Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1995, a game published by Bandai. It was one of those licensed titles that felt like a direct extension of the Saturday morning TV show, landing right in the middle of the SNES's lifespan when side-scrolling beat 'em ups were still a solid choice for quick, cooperative fun.

You choose one of the five core Rangers, each with their own slightly different moveset, and fight through levels based on the movie's plot. The main goal is to clear each screen of enemies, like Putties and later robotic Tengas, before moving forward. Signature mechanics include being able to morph into your powered-up form at any time for stronger attacks, and certain stages switch things up entirely, like a first-person Zord cockpit segment or a fast-paced snowboarding run where you kick enemies off the track. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can get pretty unforgiving, especially with some awkward enemy placements. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes clunky, but energetically faithful adaptation of the film.
