Dragoneer’s Aria starts with what should’ve been Valen’s big moment—graduating as a Dragoon—until a black dragon crashes the party (literally). The attack leaves everything in ruins, and suddenly you’re stuck with this mysterious girl, Euphe, trying to figure out why the dragon showed up in the first place. The story’s got that classic RPG vibe, with cutscenes that actually look decent for a PSP game, and you can switch between English and Japanese voices if you’re picky about that stuff.

Battles are turn-based, but the real fun is the crafting system. You’ll spend way too much time tinkering with weapons and accessories, trying to squeeze out every bit of power for your party. And if you’ve got friends with PSPs, you can team up wirelessly—four players dungeon-crawling together feels surprisingly good, even if it’s a bit chaotic.

It’s not the deepest RPG out there, but the dragon lore and straightforward combat make it a solid pick for PSP owners who miss that mid-2000s JRPG charm.
