Balloon Fight came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1984, developed by Nintendo. It was part of that early wave of NES games, simple in concept but built to keep you coming back. You don't see many games like it anymore, where the goal is so straightforward and the action so immediate.

You control a little character with two balloons strapped to their back, floating through the air. The main objective is to pop the balloons of enemy fighters while avoiding having your own popped. You do this by bumping into them from above; hit them from the side or below and you're the one who gets popped. The screen wraps around, so enemies can come at you from any direction, and you have to constantly flap to stay in the air, which gives the game a bouncy, precarious feel. It's a game of careful positioning and quick reactions, and it feels both frantic and strangely peaceful when you find a good rhythm.
