Balloon Fight came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985, developed by Nintendo R&D1. It was one of those early NES titles that felt simple and direct, a straightforward arcade-style game in an era when many games were still figuring out what home consoles could do.

You control a little character with two balloons tied to their back, floating through single-screen stages. The goal is to pop the balloons of enemy "Balloon Fighters" by bumping into them from above, making them fall into the water below. You have to flap your arms to gain height and carefully maneuver around obstacles and enemy projectiles. The game moves at a quick, tense pace, and the threat of falling or getting stunned by an electric foe keeps you alert.
