Baryon is a game from the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, though it originally came out in the early 1990s. I don't recall the developer's name offhand, but it was one of those shareware titles that made the rounds on floppy disks back when DOS was the standard. It fits right in with the era's sci-fi shooters, built for systems that relied on keyboard controls and VGA graphics.

You pilot a small, nimble ship through a maze of tight, multi-screen levels, blasting enemy drones and avoiding walls that kill on contact. Your main goal is simply to survive each stage, clearing all hostiles to open the exit. The ship handles with a slight momentum, so careful taps are needed to navigate narrow passages without crashing. Power-ups occasionally drop, offering temporary weapon upgrades or shields, but they're scarce enough that every pickup feels critical. The difficulty ramps up quickly, with later stages flooding the screen with aggressive enemies and tricky environmental hazards. It's tense, methodical, and demands sharp reflexes; finishing a tough level brings a real wave of relief.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
