Game Overview

Batman Forever on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1995, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was one of those licensed games from the mid-90s that tried to capture the movie's vibe, with all the colorful costumes and set pieces from the film. The SNES was full of these kinds of adaptations, and this one fit right in with the era's mix of ambition and technical constraints.

You control either Batman or Robin, moving through stages filled with thugs from Two-Face and the Riddler's gangs. The main goal is to fight through each level, defeat the bosses, and clear your name after you're framed. The game uses a beat 'em up style, so you punch, kick, and use a few special moves; Robin has a useful jump kick, while Batman relies more on straightforward attacks. You also explore areas screen by screen, sometimes backtracking to find keys or switches. The pacing is slow, and the difficulty can feel uneven, with some cheap enemy placements. It feels like a repetitive slog at times, but there's a certain charm in the simplicity of punching your way through a garish, pixelated Gotham.
