Play Battle Beast Online

Pick a tiny animal, watch it turn into a ridiculous robot mid-fight, then punch a cybernetic frog across the screen. The pixel art’s as goofy as the concept, with random mini-games popping up between bouts.

Game Overview

Battle Beast came out in 1995 for MS-DOS, developed by 7th Level and published by BMG Interactive. It was one of those mid-90s games that tried something a little different, mixing animal combat with transforming robots in a way that felt fresh at the time, even if the execution was sometimes rough around the edges.

You pick a small animal like a frog or a rabbit, and as soon as a fight starts, it transforms into a bulky robot. You move from screen to screen in an arena, using punches, kicks, and special weapons to take down opponents. The main goal is to defeat all the enemy beasts across several themed worlds, but you also run into mini-games between battles that break up the action. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially in later stages. It feels chaotic and silly in the best way, like playing with action figures that have a mind of their own.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
