Game Overview
Battlestorm is one of those MS-DOS games that somehow got lost in time but absolutely shouldn’t have. You start off with this tiny ship—just a pixelated speck on the screen—and suddenly, the entire top half fills with enemies diving at you. The first time I played, I lasted maybe 20 seconds before exploding spectacularly.
It’s got that classic arcade feel where you’re constantly weaving through bullets, grabbing power-ups that actually feel meaningful (the spread shot changes everything), and trying not to panic when the screen gets crowded. The controls are stupidly simple—arrow keys and one button—but the challenge ramps up fast. By level 3, you’ll be sweating.
What I love is how unapologetically old-school it is. No tutorials, no hand-holding, just you against an endless swarm of baddies. If you miss the days when games were hard just because they could be, this is your fix. Just don’t blame me when you realize you’ve been hunched over your keyboard for an hour straight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
