Okay, so the Bee Movie Game is exactly what it sounds like—you play as Barry B. Benson, that fast-talking bee from the movie. It’s a weirdly fun little DS game where you zip around New York, dodging windshields and collecting pollen like some kind of hyperactive delivery driver. The flying controls take a minute to get used to (tilt the stylus? really?), but once you do, it’s oddly satisfying to weave between skyscrapers.
There’s a bunch of mini-games too—some are hit-or-miss, but the one where you race against Vanessa in her car is weirdly intense for a game about bees. And yeah, the dialogue is just as aggressively pun-filled as the movie. If you’ve ever wanted to hear Jerry Seinfeld’s voice coming from a tiny DS speaker while you battle a rogue lawnmower, this is your chance.
It’s not gonna win awards, but it’s way more entertaining than a licensed movie game has any right to be.
