You start as a bare-knuckle monster-wrestler, then grow into a king—every fight feels like you're barely winning, and the years hit harder than your punches.
Game Overview
Beowulf: The Game came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2007, developed by Ubisoft. It was part of that wave of movie tie-ins that showed up on the PSP, trying to capture some of the epic scale of the film in a portable format. The game follows the story of the hero Beowulf, letting you step into his shoes across different stages of his life.
You control Beowulf himself, moving through linear levels, battling monsters and human enemies with a mix of sword strikes, grapples, and quick-time events. The main goal is to progress through the story, defeating increasingly dangerous foes like Grendel and a dragon. Combat relies on chaining attacks and using context-sensitive grabs for finishing moves; you also lead a small group of thanes who assist in fights. The pacing is fairly straightforward, though some sections can feel repetitive. It feels like a straightforward action game that doesn't overcomplicate things, focusing on moment-to-moment brawling.
