Bermuda Triangle is this weirdly cool arcade shooter where you pilot a massive battleship called the ZIG through time to stop invaders messing with history. First thing you'll notice? Your ship's huge compared to most shooters—takes a few hits before exploding, which is nice when you're still figuring out the controls.
You've got your main forward shot, but the real trick is the rotating turret that fires in 8 directions. The arcade cabinet had this satisfying rotary joystick just for aiming it, though the PlayStation version makes do with shoulder buttons. Either way, lining up diagonal shots while dodging feels oddly tactical for a game from 1987.
SYD helper ships orbit you in different formations—they block bullets but explode if hit, so you're constantly weighing whether to use them as shields or keep them alive for backup firepower. And those energy pickups? Grab one when you're damaged to heal, or at full health to supercharge your weapons for a few glorious seconds.
The screen scrolls both up and down unexpectedly, so you're always adjusting. Boss fights are these tense battles where you're circling their weak points while your turret spins wildly. It's janky in that very 80s arcade way, but there's something satisfying about how chunky everything feels.
