Macross Triangle Frontier came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2011, developed by Artdink and published by Bandai Namco. You pilot Variable Fighters that can shift between three forms: fighter for speed, gerwalk for hover and mid-range combat, and battroid for close-quarters fights. Missions have you protecting civilian ships, dueling enemy mechs, and sometimes just listening to a concert to raise morale. The real-time transformation adds a tactical layer, forcing you to adapt on the fly to missile barrages or sudden ambushes. It's not overly difficult, but it keeps you alert, especially during larger fleet engagements. Dodging beams while your favorite song blasts in the background just feels right.
