Big 2 was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a compilation that bundled several older titles for easy access on later systems. The game itself is a digital adaptation of the traditional Chinese climbing card game, sometimes known as President or Dai Di. It was developed by a team whose name isn't widely documented now, but it fit right in with the straightforward, functional card and board games common on PCs in the early 1990s.

You play against up to three computer opponents, each with distinct, predictable personalities that range from cautious to aggressively bold. The goal is to be the first to empty your hand by playing valid combinations like singles, pairs, or straights onto the pile, always beating the previous play's rank or type. Key mechanics include passing your turn when you cannot or choose not to play, and the strategic use of special cards like the 2 and the diamonds suit to reset the pile or change the required combination. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
