Big Sky Trooper came out for the Super Nintendo in 1996, published by JVC Musical Industries. It was one of those late-era SNES games that tried something a little different, mixing run-and-gun action with some light puzzle solving and exploration. You control a space trooper tasked with rescuing hostages from an alien-infested planet. The game plays out across interconnected screens; you move room by room, clearing enemies and hunting for keys to unlock doors. Combat is fast and varied, with weapons like a flamethrower, spread shot, and even a disco ball launcher that bounces around the screen. The pacing is brisk, though some sections can feel repetitive, and the difficulty spikes in later stages.
