Play Biohazard Gaiden (Japan) Online

Barry and Leon fight zombies on a haunted cruise ship—you line up shots with a jittery reticle while creeping through pixelated corridors that somehow still feel tense. Weird, janky, and weirdly atmospheric for a GBC game.

Game Overview

Biohazard Gaiden is this weird little Resident Evil spin-off for the Game Boy Color that most people missed—probably because it never even got a US release. You play as Barry Burton and Leon Kennedy (yes, that Leon) stuck on a creepy cruise ship overrun with zombies. The top-down exploration feels clunky at first, but the real-time combat is where things get interesting—you actually have to time your shots with a moving reticle, which is way more tense than it sounds for a GBC game.

It’s definitely not canon, and the story’s pretty goofy (something about a new B.O.W. called "The Mist"), but there’s a weird charm to it. The pixel art’s surprisingly moody for a handheld this old, especially when you’re creeping through dimly lit corridors. Just don’t expect classic Resident Evil—this one plays by its own rules.
