Game Overview
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II came out on the PlayStation Portable in 2011, developed by Arc System Works. It was a solid port of the console fighting game, arriving late in the PSP's life when portable fighters were a real treat. The game carries over a huge roster from the arcade version, complete with all the story content and modes, which made it a pretty substantial package to carry around in your pocket.
You control one of many distinct fighters, like the sword-wielding Ragna or the gadget-heavy Noel, engaging in one-on-one battles across various stages. The main objective is to deplete your opponent's health bar using a combination of normal attacks, special moves, and super attacks. Signature mechanics include the Drive button, which gives each character a unique ability, and Barrier blocking, which lets you guard at the cost of your barrier gauge. The pacing is fast, with a high skill ceiling that rewards practice; matches can turn quickly with a well-timed counter or a lengthy combo. It feels technical and responsive, demanding your full attention during every match.
