Game Overview

Boboboubo Boubobo: Ougi 87.5 Bakuretsu Hanage Shinken came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, developed by TOSE and published by Hudson Soft. It was one of those oddball titles that felt right at home on the GBA, a system that welcomed plenty of quirky Japanese games that never made it overseas. This one was based on a completely bizarre manga and anime series, so if you weren't familiar with the source material, you were in for a very strange ride.

You control Bobobo, the pink-haired hero, as he fights through waves of enemies using his primary weapon: his own prehensile nose hair. The main goal is to progress through side-scrolling stages, defeating all the odd foes in your path. The combat is the real focus; you whip enemies with your nose hair, build up a special meter, and unleash over-the-top super moves that fill the screen with chaotic effects. Enemies don't just die; they often explode into random items or get sent flying with comical sound effects. The pacing is fast and relentless, with little downtime between the absurd encounters. Playing it feels like being inside someone else's hyperactive dream.
