Bomber Raid came out for the Sega Master System in 1988, developed by Sanritsu. It was one of those straightforward shoot 'em ups that filled out the library for the console, offering a no frills experience in an era where arcade style action was a big draw for home systems.
You pilot a lone fighter plane, moving relentlessly forward through six distinct stages, each with a large boss waiting at the end. Your main objective is simply to survive the onslaught of enemy aircraft, submarines, and turrets, all while collecting power-up pods that gradually transform your weak default shot into a much more formidable spread weapon. The pacing is relentless; enemies pour in from all sides, and the screen never stops scrolling, forcing quick decisions. Losing a life resets your firepower back to its weakest state, which sharply increases the difficulty and punishes mistakes heavily. It feels tense and demanding, a constant test of your reflexes and memorization.
