Bombuzal came out in 1988 for MS-DOS as part of the Classic Games series from Image Works. It was a puzzle game from an era when many developers were experimenting with simple, clever concepts that didn't rely on flashy graphics or complex stories to hold your attention. You got a clean interface, a clear goal, and a steadily increasing challenge that felt very much of its time.
You control a small character who must detonate every bomb on each single-screen level without getting caught in the blast. The main objective is to trigger chain reactions by lighting one bomb, then quickly moving out of the way as explosions set off neighboring bombs in sequence. Key mechanics include careful path planning to avoid being trapped, and sometimes using special tiles that alter bomb behavior or provide temporary safe zones. The pacing is deliberate and thoughtful; rushing usually means a quick, explosive death. It feels like conducting a dangerous fireworks display where every fuse you light has to be precisely timed.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
