Play Boxcars Online
In Boxcars, you roll dice, claim track segments, and block opponents as you build your railroad empire across a map of cities.
Boxcars is a straightforward strategy game from the MS-DOS era, released as part of the 0 MS-DOS Classic Games collection. It was developed by a small team whose names are not widely remembered, but the game itself captures the practical, unadorned feel of early computer gaming. It fits right in with other turn-based titles of the time, offering a focused experience without much visual flair or narrative pretense.
You control a railroad baron competing against up to three opponents, either human or computer-controlled, on a map of interconnected cities. Your goal is to complete routes between major destinations by rolling dice and spending the results to claim track segments. Key mechanics include blocking rival players by occupying critical paths and managing limited resources to extend your network efficiently. The game moves at a deliberate pace, with luck and tactics both playing significant roles in the outcome. It feels satisfying to watch your rail lines slowly dominate the board while trying to anticipate your opponents' next moves.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
