Brainies, The is one of those weird little SNES puzzle games that somehow got lost in the shuffle—which is a shame, because it’s got this weirdly satisfying mix of strategy and chaos. You’re basically babysitting a bunch of tiny, brightly colored creatures (the Brainies, obviously) who each have their own skills—some jump, some climb walls, and others just teleport around like they own the place. Half the fun is watching them stumble into trouble while you try to herd them toward the exit.
The first few levels trick you into thinking it’s easy, but then suddenly you’re staring at the screen for 10 minutes trying to figure out which Brainy needs to do what, in what order, without getting stuck or squished. The pixel art’s super charming, too—everything’s got this bouncy, cartoonish vibe that makes even the frustrating bits feel fun. If you ever played Lemmings and wished it was cuter and slightly more unpredictable, this is your game.
