You wake up in a dungeon with no sword, rotating the whole world to find hidden paths while dodging traps and outsmarting monsters—until you get your hands on that ridiculous Planet Buster again.
Brandish 2 picks up three years after the first game, with Ares—now wielding the ridiculously cool Planet Buster sword—getting ambushed by some warlock named Karl. Of course, Karl snatches the sword and tosses Ares into a massive underground prison, because apparently that’s what evil wizards do for fun.
What follows is a dungeon crawler where you’re constantly turning the camera (the whole world rotates, which takes some getting used to) while slashing monsters, breaking down doors with your sword, and occasionally stumbling into traps. The combat’s simple but satisfying—you can jump-attack, block, or cast spells if you find the right scrolls. Just don’t expect to brute-force your way through; some areas need a bit of puzzle-solving, and the enemies hit hard if you’re careless.
It’s got that classic SNES charm—moody underground labyrinths, weirdly catchy music, and a sword so overpowered the bad guys literally lock it away from you. Getting it back feels like the whole point, and honestly? Worth it.
