Play Brickwar Online
In Brickwar, you control a paddle, smash bricks, defend your wall, and compete against a friend or the computer in a fast-paced, chaotic battle.
Brickwar was part of the 0 MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a compilation that bundled various shareware and public domain titles for the platform. It fit right into that era of simple, direct games you could load up quickly and play without much setup or explanation. The game didn't have a prominent commercial publisher; it felt more like a passion project from the early PC gaming scene, something you'd find on a floppy disk at a computer club meeting or copied from a friend.
You control a paddle at the bottom of the screen, much like in Breakout, but with a crucial twist: you are competing directly against another paddle, either controlled by a second player on the same keyboard or by the computer. The main objective is to break all the bricks on your side of the divided screen while defending your own wall from the balls your opponent sends over. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups that fall from broken bricks, which can multiply your balls, speed them up, or alter their behavior, and the constant risk of losing a life if you let a ball slip past your paddle. The pacing is frantic, especially with two players, as balls crisscross the screen and the playing field rapidly changes. It feels like a hectic, competitive race where a single mistake can swing the momentum completely.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
