Play Bug's Life, A Online
Hop around as Flik, tossing acorns at grasshoppers and herding ants through clunky-but-charming puzzles. That GBC soundtrack still slaps.
I picked up A Bug's Life for the Game Boy Color back in 1999, developed by Traveller's Tales. It was one of those licensed platformers that felt pretty standard for the time, not groundbreaking but solid enough if you were into the movie or just looking for something colorful to play on the go. The hardware limitations were obvious, but it had a certain charm that made it stand out in a crowded field of similar titles.
You control Flik, an inventive ant trying to save his colony from a gang of bullying grasshoppers. The main goal is to explore various levels, from anthills to open fields, while tossing berries and seeds at enemies. You also gather food supplies for your colony and solve simple puzzles by pushing objects or using items you find. The pacing is moderate, with some tricky jumps and enemy patterns that keep you alert. It feels straightforward but satisfying, like a comfortable weekend distraction with just enough challenge to hold your interest.
