Game Overview

Bumpy came out in 1989 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Loriciels. It was one of those early platformers that felt experimental, built for an era when simple mechanics and unforgiving level design were the norm. You controlled a round, bouncy character through a series of maze-like stages, each screen presenting a new arrangement of obstacles and moving parts.

Your goal was to navigate from the start to the exit of each level, avoiding pitfalls and enemies while collecting items for points. The game used screen-by-screen progression, so you advanced one section at a time. Key mechanics included riding unstable platforms that could collapse under you and managing momentum-based jumps that required careful timing. The pacing was deliberate, and the difficulty was steep; mistakes were punished instantly, and precision mattered more than speed. Playing it feels like a constant test of patience and control.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
