BurgerTime was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several titles from that era. The game was originally developed by Data East and published on many platforms, including a version for MS-DOS computers. It fit right in with the kind of straightforward, action-focused games that were common in the early days of home computing.

You control Chef Peter Pepper, a tiny cook whose job is to assemble giant hamburgers by walking over the individual parts (buns, patties, lettuce) on a multi-level stage. Each time you cross a segment, it falls to the plate below; complete all segments to finish the burger and clear the stage. Your main obstacles are pursuing enemies like Mr. Hot Dog and Mr. Pickle; you can temporarily stun them by dropping a pepper shaker or by causing falling burger ingredients to squash them. The game starts deceptively simple but quickly becomes frantic as enemies multiply and their movements get more aggressive. It feels like a race against the clock where one wrong move means starting the stage over.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
