Burntime came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by a German studio called Clockwork Games and published by Software 2000. It was one of those ambitious post-apocalyptic survival games from the era, trying to do more with strategy and resource management than many of its contemporaries.
You control a small group of survivors, moving them across a bleak, ruined map in real time. Your main goal is to keep everyone alive by scavenging for food, water, and medicine while avoiding hazards like radiation, starvation, and hostile raiders. The game uses a turn-based system for combat and trading when you enter settlements, but the overworld plays out in real time, which keeps tension high. Everything feels fragile; one bad decision can spiral into disaster. Playing Burntime feels like holding your breath for a long time, never quite sure when things will fall apart.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
