Game Overview

I first played Bushido: Way of the Warrior back in 1989 on my old MS-DOS machine. It was developed by Micro Forté and felt like a different kind of adventure game for its time, one that didn't rely on the flashy arcade action or sprawling RPGs that were common then. Instead, it offered a slower, more deliberate journey into a world inspired by feudal Japan, built screen by screen with a focus on atmosphere and careful movement.

You control a lone samurai navigating a series of interconnected areas, from forests to castles, with the main goal of defeating an evil warlord. The gameplay hinges on methodical exploration and real time combat where you must time your sword swings and blocks precisely; a mistimed attack leaves you wide open. You also use a bow for ranged threats and collect items to aid your progress. The pacing is slow and the difficulty is punishing, demanding patience and observation more than quick reflexes. It feels tense and immersive, like every corner could be your last if you aren't paying attention.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
