Play Call Of Duty - Black Ops (F) Online
In Call of Duty: Black Ops, you control a soldier in the Cold War, completing missions, aiming with the stylus, and taking down enemies in intense, portable first-person shooter action.
I picked up Call of Duty: Black Ops for the Nintendo DS back in 2010, a portable take on the console hit from Activision. It was a time when developers were still figuring out how to cram big experiences onto the small, dual-screen hardware, and this one managed to deliver a functional, if simplified, first-person shooter. You get a full campaign set during the Cold War, complete with familiar locations and a condensed version of the story.
You control a soldier through various missions, moving with the D-pad and aiming with the stylus on the touch screen. The main objective is to complete mission goals, like securing intel or holding a position against waves of enemies. Signature mechanics include using the touch screen for precise aiming and grenade throws, as well as interacting with the environment for cover or objectives. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike during some firefights, but it feels surprisingly responsive for a DS shooter. It captures the tension of close-quarters combat in a compact, handheld format.
